William P. Davis
William Davis is a seasoned marketing communications leader with more than 15 years of front-line experience. He focuses on strategic planning, issues management and marketing communication.
His projects have included Dominick’s, Quaker Oats, Polaroid, Procter & Gamble, Alcatel Network Systems, Ameritech, Ariel Capital Management, the Chicago Housing Authority, MFS Telecommunications and NetNoir/ America Online. Before Sphere, Davis worked first as assistant press secretary to Mayor Daley, then as director of News Affairs for the Chicago Police Department.
As assistant press secretary, Davis wrote speeches, talking points and press releases; arranged and conducted news conferences and facilitated mayoral briefings. He also provided media counsel to commissioners and oversaw public information staffs of eight city departments. He led on-site media relations during the downtown Chicago flood crisis. Davis developed communications strategies for numerous public policy issues, including citywide recycling, airport noise impact, relocation of the city homeless and lead contamination of water.
Serving as director of News Affairs, Davis was chief communications officer for the second largest police department in the country. He managed the news and public information department responsible for researching and responding to nearly 100 inquiries daily from local, national and specialty media regarding crime, police operations, law enforcement and public safety issues.
